Introducing Sara

Sara Pirola brings a rare combination to her work at The Verbier Touch: the clinical precision of a physiotherapist who has spent seven years refining her craft, and the lived understanding of an athlete who knows exactly what it takes to return to sport after injury. Patients describe her as calm and thorough — the kind of practitioner who explains every step of a recovery plan clearly enough that they leave each session more confident, not just less sore.

Her particular gift is with complex knee injuries and ACL rehabilitation, an area she pursued deliberately, alongside a growing specialism in running-related conditions — from acute injury through to biomechanics and prevention. She is currently completing a postgraduate degree in Osteopathy in Rome, on top of training in acupuncture, Pilates and manual therapy: a reflection of someone who treats her own professional development with the same discipline she asks of her patients.

Off the clinic table, Sara is quietly one of the most accomplished endurance athletes on the team. She has raced the Patrouille des Glaciers, is currently preparing for Ironman 70.3 Cervia, and has provided pre- and post-race physiotherapy support to an athlete competing in the UTMB 175km, one of the most demanding ultra-endurance events in the world. It means that when she tells a runner or a ski instructor how to pace their return to activity, she is speaking from experience as much as expertise.

Beyond the Clinic

Sara has completed over one hundred pool swimming events and around twenty open water races, and more recently has turned her attention to triathlon and trail running, most notably finishing the Patrouille des Glaciers from Arolla to Verbier. When she is not training, she is usually in the mountains hiking, ski touring or climbing, or back at her family's farmhouse, where she has followed a mostly plant based diet since she was eighteen and loves cooking vegetarian meals for family and friends.

She speaks Italian, English and French, and describes herself simply as someone who has always felt happiest outdoors.
