Meet Ane Torres Madrazo, Senior Physiotherapist
From rhythmic gymnastics to advanced women's health physiotherapy, we sat down with Ane to talk about her background, her specialisms, and what patients can expect when they come to see her.

Ane is a Senior Physiotherapist at The Verbier Touch, with advanced training in women's health and pelvic floor physiotherapy. We asked her a few questions so you can get to know her a little better before your first appointment.
Can you tell us a little about your background and what drew you to physiotherapy?
Sport has always been a big part of my life since I was very young. I come from a sporting background, more specifically rhythmic gymnastics, but I also enjoy trying new activities such as golf, tennis, skiing, Pilates and CrossFit.
In addition, I have always been very curious about health, both physical and mental. That is why I decided to study physiotherapy: to better understand the human body and help people recover from injuries, as well as support them throughout their sporting careers.
As Senior Physiotherapist at our Verbier clinic, what does a typical week look like for you?
I work with a wide variety of patients, ranging from geriatric patients receiving home-based care, whom I help improve their functional capacity and maintain their independence, to pelvic health patients with conditions such as urinary incontinence, as well as pregnant and postpartum women.
With these patients, I focus on posture, pelvic floor strength and physical conditioning to ensure a safe and injury-free return to sport and daily activities.
I also treat patients with musculoskeletal injuries, including ligament tears, joint replacements and chronic pain conditions, helping them recover function, reduce pain and improve their overall quality of life.
What areas of physiotherapy are you most passionate about, or do you find yourself specialising in?
As I mentioned before, I initially pursued physiotherapy because of my passion for sports. However, over time, I became fascinated by women's health, the complexity of the female body, and how under-researched this field has historically been.
This interest led me to complete a postgraduate specialisation in pregnancy and postpartum care, followed by a Master's degree in Urological, Coloproctological and Gynecological Physiotherapy.
Through this advanced training, I have developed a strong expertise in assessing and treating a wide range of pelvic health conditions, while supporting women through different stages of their lives with an evidence-based and patient-centred approach.
What can patients expect when they come to see you for the first time?
What I would like my patients to experience when they come to see me for the first time is a safe and welcoming environment where they feel comfortable talking about their pain, concerns, questions and fears.
Together, we explore the possible causes of their symptoms, gain a better understanding of their situation, and create a personalised path towards recovery. My goal is for every patient to feel listened to, supported, and actively involved in their rehabilitation journey.
Is there a particular type of case or patient you find most rewarding to work with?
I find working with pregnant and postpartum women particularly rewarding because I can support them through an important stage of their lives and help them regain confidence in their bodies and return safely to the activities they enjoy.
Outside of the clinic, what do you enjoy doing? Any hobbies, interests, or ways you like to switch off?
I really enjoy outdoor sports, dancing, spending time around animals, learning new languages, travelling, and discovering different ways of living and learning from them.
Living far from my family has also made me truly appreciate spending quality time with them and with my lifelong friends.
As you take on more responsibility at Swiss Touch this year, what are you most looking forward to?
I would love to further develop the Women's Health area within The Verbier Touch and ensure that every woman living in the region has access to specialised pelvic floor physiotherapy whenever she may need it, at any stage of her life.
Is there anything you would want a new patient to know about you before their first appointment?
I would like new patients to know that they will be welcomed into a safe, supportive and judgment-free environment. My goal is to help patients better understand their bodies, feel empowered in their health journey, and work together to find solutions that fit their individual needs and lifestyle.
I believe that education is just as important as treatment, so I always take the time to listen, explain, and ensure my patients feel comfortable and confident throughout the process. Whether you are seeking support during pregnancy, after childbirth, around menopause, or with any other musculoskeletal injury, I am here to help you move, feel and live better.
